Luisa grew up in the Chicago suburb of Berkeley. A love of reading was born in the small "volunteer" library housed in the basement of the three-man police department and city hall. There, Buehler discovered Nancy Drew, and her career—not as girl detective, but as a writer of girl detective stories.
