Six Degrees of Abraham Lincoln

Six Degrees of Abraham Lincoln

The stories of Abraham Lincoln life in Springfield, Illinois and later in Washington, D.C. are all well-known. But is there a connection to your own town? What are the ties to people or places that might bring Lincoln closer to you?

You've no doubt heard of the "Six Degrees of Separation" theory; that any person can be linked to any other person by no more that six degrees. You may even have heard of a game called The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Local historian and author Katharine Kendzy Gingold used the six degrees theory to tie Lincoln to her town, Naperville, and then branched out from there to make connections for several other communities around Chicagoland.

The result: Gingold's compiled a fun book filled with many odd and interesting facts that make Lincoln and his times come alive for us today.

So is there a connection to Kevin Bacon?! The simple answer is "Yes!" You'll need to do your own digging to find out what the connection is, or simpler yet, get the book!

Here's how to buy Six Degrees of Abraham Lincoln.
